A party is not a logo. It is not a DJ, and it is not an Instagram account. It is the people in it. Community first is the order an event puts its priorities in — people first, everything else afterwards. The phrase names no target group and no programme, only what a night gets measured by.
People Before Line-Up
Take the people out and there is no scene left, however well the booking, the room and the sound come together. A night where every visible part works and nobody stays is the proof of it. Which is also why the phrase is easy to say: it looks good on a page and costs nothing on the way there.
How You Can Tell It Is Real
The difference is whether it changes anything. It changes something when it turns up in decisions: who gets booked and why, what applies at the door, what happens when someone reports something, whether awareness work is a line in the budget or a sentence on a website.
Community also does not come from likeness. It comes from shared ground where people who have very little in common treat each other decently. Different ages, different backgrounds, wildly different taste in music once it gets past eight in the morning. The aim is not that everybody likes everybody. The aim is that everybody gets to have the same night.

Hence the line of our own: Twink Death is more than a party. Different bodies, different histories, one dancefloor. Someone here for the first time belongs to the night exactly as much as someone who has made every single date.
